about

Dennis Gonzalez, the noted Dallas jazz trumpeter, joined up with Yusef Komunyakaa, who won the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, at St. James Cathedral in Chicago for a concert sponsored by The Chicago Humanities Festival November 5,1999. Supporting Mr. Komunyakaa's words and Gonzalez's music were 3 leading lights of the jazz and blues scene: Susie Ibarra (drum, percussion), Mark Deutsch (bazantar, electric bass, sitar), Sugar Blue, the harmonica player best known for his classic line on "Miss You" by the Rolling Stones, and Carol Gonzalez (motorcycle).
